Friends, I am overjoyed and deeply honored that New York City Ballet will perform two of my orchestral pieces; “Unveiling” and “Is Now Not Enough?” to the choreography of Sidra Bell and costume design by Christopher John Rogers on the Fall Gala this September.
Of interest might be the fact that I will be only the second (or third) female composer to work with NYCB (singer/songwriter’s Lido Pimienta’s music will also be featured that evening). The first female composer, performed by NYCB in 1988, was Ellen Taaffe Zwilich, who was commissioned to create a score for a ballet titled Tanzspiel.

08/27 – a correction from NYCB to the initial press release, with apologies for miscalculating the number of female composers. I will actually be the 7th female composer to work with the company.
