Reflections on Art and Life
How do I express this movement musically? And when I hear gripping music, how do I paint it? These two artistic disciplines have been closely related in my creative output. Sometimes flowing effortlessly from one another, and sometimes, like today, eluding me altogether. There are only twelve semitones in the Western tuning and only three primary colors in the light spectrum seen by the human eye. It shouldn’t be that hard. There must be a secret language connecting the two, a system of matrices, a unifying principle. I get closer to it and then I feel I need to discard everything I was ever sure of.
