Reflections on Art and Life
The new harpsichord concerto is finished. Enjoy the preview of the first movement, the Ritornello. I will upload the other two movements in the next few days.
Ritornello is a formal design characteristic of many Baroque period concertos in which a recurring orchestral passage (ritornello or refrain) weaves between soloistic episodes. The ritornello likes to reinvent itself. Each time it returns, it brings something slightly different.
Five points for those who can spot two double sharps and ten extra points for those who can identify the key they belong to.
