Reflections on Art and Life

No Commitment

medusa

Medusa – one of my early paintings. Remarkably, as I look back, I feel myself drawn to the same color palette again; soft grays, blue, black. Maybe I have come full circle.

In recent months I have been craving more muted surroundings and want to produce more subdued work. Some of my earlier paintings, full of extravagant color, have been largely a reaction to my upbringing in the grayness of socialist Poland, but now that I have overdosed on color, I am letting the pendulum swing back again. And so it swings back and forth. I don’t foresee committing myself to any one way of painting.
