Reflections on Art and Life
I have a thing for scissors. I have to have several pairs in the kitchen, in my painting studio, in the sewing kit, and some smaller pairs for grooming. I have several crafting scissors that cut in zig-zag and scallops. Americans say “Don’t run with scissors”, but my father would always get upset when he saw scissors anywhere near a bed. One of his distant cousins apparently stabbed herself while asleep. I did not inherit his phobia. The more pairs I own, the more in control and put together I feel.
“The Final Edit”, self-portrait composed of hundreds of words written quickly in a stream of consciousness. Part a disjointed confession, an undecipherable monologue, or a snapshot of the restless mind. The words create shapes, texture, and shading. Digital ink on paper, hand drawn.http://www.dosiamckay.com/art/artwork/108.shtml
