Reflections on Art and Life
Art is not necessary. Art is not indispensable. There are more urgent issues such as maintaining peace, feeding the hungry, and protecting the environment. And yet, if we don’t have art, our lives are reduced to mere functional existence. The imagination and delusion of the intangible world is humanity’s attempt at creating meaning and dignity. I dab in paint and compose music with the hope that my delusion will give someone a momentary window into that Other World and that my delusional tendencies will be somehow justified.
