Working with 1st Violin – Composer’s Perspective

Composer’s perspective – working with 1st Violin of NeoQuartet, Karolina Piątkowska-Nowicka: Karolina was a very strong leader of the group and often suggested nuanced interpretations of individual melodic lines. She added dynamics that were not specified in the score, making my compositions sound better than I envisioned. Her intonation is impecable and you will hear her beautiful solos in Cantabile and the fast Monologues.

Fun fact about Karolina: when the music takes off and she gets lost in the moment, she likes to stomp her foot. Highly sensitive microphones in the studio heard every breath, so we had to ask her several times to stop stomping or to take off her shoes.
